Mizu-Philadelphia

Sushi was a cuisine which took me close to 18 months to understand and enjoy. Today I am addicted to it. I still remember being taught the same by one of my classmates at the seminar at school. Then they opened Mizu, a small reasonably priced restaurant on campus at Penn.

The kaani salad, which includes crab meat, is a good starter, while the blueberry aloe vera juice is surprisingly tasty.

My favourite dish there is the Shrimp Tempura with the spicy mayonise.

Sarvana Bhavan-Edison, NJ

This famous Chennai based restaurant has it's branches all over the place. Though I first tried the one in Manhattan, it is the one in Edison which is my regular eating place. They have many dishes which can be highly recommended like Puri-Bhaaji, Onion Rava Masala with Rasam etc.

How ever,my clear favourite is the Kara Dosa, which is a regular dosa with has a tomato based vegetable/chutney on the inside. It can be slightly spicy for some but definitely needs to be tried at least once, to be followed by the amazing coffee.

Cosi

This sandwich-salad chain is a reliable go-to choice when in doubt. Though the sandwiches are the trademark, it is the salads which have always caught my attention.

I love their Bombay Chicken Salad, with the pieces of tandoori chicken cooked really well. It goes really well with the rasberry lemonade.

Mandarin-Malvern, PA

One of our good friends took us to this wonderful Chinese restaurant a few weekends ago. They were raving about it and summed it up thus "As much as it is a common dish, their General Tso's chicken is out of this world"

I agree 100%. The Lobster tail spring rolls are a great start, and the Eggplant in Garlic sauce is a winner.

How ever, my personal favorite has to be the Lamb-home style.Slightly spicy but very tender and well cooked. Goes well with the veg fried rice.
